Day One we look at videos of free and structured play scenarios, play children’s hand games, and review the cognitive psychology and neurobiology that supports the notion of physical engagement as a critical element of human development.
Our first project, to extend a traditional young children’s game within its paradigm of play, results in new versions of three traditional games: Musical Chairs, El Huron, and The Blind Old Lady. Each team explains their new rules and instructs the class on how to play the game. Below are photos of the three groups planning their projects and playing The Blind Old Lady.
